Students Come To Chicago to Learn How to Party Like Pros

Chicago, IL February 14, 2004--Planning parties, events and weddings has become one of the hottest career choices, but working at it professionally requires a good deal more knowledge than knowing how to set a pretty table or how to get everyone up to do the Electric Slide. Since it's not offered as a curriculum in most colleges, finding this specialized education has proven to be a challenge until now. A first-time function, The Event, Party and Wedding Planners All-Day Workshop, will be presented on Thursday, March 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a prelude to TransWorld Exhibits 20th National Halloween, Costume and Party Show from March 12-16, 2004 at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL outside of Chicago's O'Hare Airport.

The all-day event was initiated as a result of hundreds of requests the conference organizers received from aspiring and beginning planners to provide a basic course in these growing fields. The event is being produced on behalf of TransWorld Exhibits by expert planners and authors of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Throwing a Great Party (Alpha Books/Macmillan) and The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Choosing a Caterer (Alpha Books/Penguin), Phyllis Cambria and Patty Sachs, who own SpeakersWritersPlus.com and PartyPlansPlus.com.

Workshop attendees will get instruction from some of the country's best event and party experts in areas such as marketing, promotion, insurance, pricing and more. Sachs and Cambria will be presenting seminars from their TeleSeminars Series on Getting Started in Event and Party Planning. The day will be highlighted with a round-table luncheon, where each table will be hosted by a professional planner who will give the students an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with an industry pro and participate in an idea exchange.

"We wanted the timing of this event to take place before TransWorld's National Halloween, Costume and Party Show to allow students to have the opportunity to attend the trade show beginning on March 12th," said Cambria. "Of the hundreds of vendors who will be exhibiting, many will be of benefit to these students as they begin their planning careers."

"In addition, the Buyer Education Program features continuous seminars and workshops available to the participants at the Show, which will make it an even greater educational experience," said Sachs.
